CRIBBAGE, or “crib” for short, is a popular British pub game. The game appears to have originated in 17th century England.
Cribbage can be played by 2 to 4 people. To play cribbage you need a standard deck of 52 playing cards and a cribbage board for keeping score.
The game is divided into two distinct rounds: one playing round and one scoring round. The winner is the first person to reach 121 points.

Part of the fun of cribbage is derived from the game’s unique terminology. For example, when a player scores zero points, they may say they scored “nineteen” which, in cribbage, is an impossible score. Other expressions include “two for His Heels” and “one for His Nobs”.
The main strategic decisions a player must make involve deciding which two cards to put in the “crib”, and then how to play the remaining four cards during the playing round. You can learn more about cribbage strategy on our cribbage tips and strategies page.
There aren’t too many places to play cribbage online. GameColony and Yahoo are two of the more popular places to play. GameDuell is one of the largest sites overall for games that offers real prizes.
